Cattle Camp Challenge
Team size: 2 teams of 4 guys Field expense: $2265
Up for a challenge? Want to spend the summer camping out, bathing in river, and befriending outrageously tall men with spears? Willing to wear a mini blue man dress and smear yourself with ashes? We've got the job for you!
The Christian AIDS Project of Southern Sudan is looking for a few good men willing to camp alongside Dinka cattle keepers, presenting the gospel and a message of AIDS awareness. The young men of the cattle camps are a hard-to-reach population segment. Largely untouched by modernization or formal education, cattle camps could be viewed as the "wild, wild west" of Sub-Saharan Africa. These young men are tough, strong, and in desperate need of the gospel.
You will travel to 3-4 cattle camps over the summer, spending 7-14 days in each camp, building relationships and sharing a set of stories specifically targeted to this culture. CAP Sudan will send these
stories before your trip, so you can be ready to hit the ground running.
You will be here during rainy season, so expect a lot of mud, heat, and mosquitoes. While in cattle camp, you will sleep in tents.
