Jacob & Jessica Brooks

Picture
We both grew up in Christian homes in the Bible Belt—Jacob in Alabama and Jessica in Oklahoma. After following Jesus for a while, we each realized that our relationship with Jesus went beyond us; we are to bring the message to all nations. Through Jacob’s involvement in the Baptist Student Union at Mississippi College, he connected with Nehemiah Teams and served overseas during the summers of 2015 & 2016. Jessica also served overseas in Central Asia, Africa and East Asia throughout her high school & college years.

Jessica graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2017 and Jacob from Mississippi College in 2016. After graduating from college, Jessica spent one semester in East Asia and returned to Oklahoma City where she would spend the next three and a half years working in dry cleaning, under the direction of a church planter, as a guest service representative. Jacob, meanwhile, after graduating in 2016, spent a summer in Southeast Asia and then returned to Mississippi to work on BSU staff at Mississippi College.

Over the course of the next few years, the Lord directed Jacob and Jessica each to Falls Creek Christian camp in Davis, OK. Jessica went with her church as a mentor, and Jacob went as a missions mobilizer with the International Mission Board. Through a good, mutual friend, we were introduced at the end of the summer, and commenced our nearly one year of long-distance dating. We got engaged in May 2019, Jacob moved to Oklahoma City in June 2019, and then we got married in January 2020!

For the past few years, we have learned, through working with students and working in dry cleaning, the importance of discipleship that hits the core identity. As children of God, we are all His ministers of reconciliation, being used by His Holy Spirit to draw all peoples to Himself. We have dedicated our life to seeing God’s glory fill the earth and developing disciples who will live out their identity as Christ’s ambassadors to the nations.

As a result of Jacob’s connection with Nehemiah Teams, we have been brought on board as trainers and mobilizers. Nehemiah Teams’ mission is to finish the Great Commission in this generation, focusing on unreached people groups. This mission aligns perfectly with our passions, which made this step of obedience clear and exciting! We cannot wait to see all the Lord continues to do through students and young adults among UPGs across the globe and to have a small part in accomplishing the task!
If you would like to be a part of the Brooks' ministry, donations can be made via cash, check or PayPal and are tax deductible.
