The Philippines is a country made up of 7,641 islands in the Pacific ocean (off the southwestern coast of China). For centuries, the Philippines have been known as a stronghold of Christianity. However, the majority of Filipino "Christians" are Catholics who combine spirit worship/appeasement with Catholicism. Although they may be "Christian," many Filipinos don't know what it means to have a relationship with Christ, and to be secure in what happens after death. There are many Filipino missionaries being sent out all over the world. It is a beautiful thing to see Filipinos not only see themselves as a missionary-receiving country, but also a missionary-sending one. Prayer points: - Pray for Filipinos to find a relationship with Jesus. - Pray for long-term missionaries in the Philippines. - Pray for Filipino missionaries as they go to places Americans cannot get access to.
On another note... Nehemiah Teams was started in the Philippines! In the last 20 years, God has used NT to bring thousands and thousands of people to faith, and transform the lives of student-missionaries in understanding their role in the Great Commission. Please pray that God will continue using Nehemiah Teams to bring many more to Christ, and that there will be many long-term laborers raised up for the harvest!
